Kerala North-South Corridor Phase-I Work Begins

The first phase of the 524 km, Rs 6,000 crore North South Corridor project in Kerala has began with the state government acquiring land to complete about 163 km of road laying work.

The North South Corridor project in Kerala is one of the biggest infrastructure projects taken up by the state government and entails the development of a 524 km long North South Corridor connecting Kasargod in north Kerala to Thiruvananthapuram in the south.

The Kerala government has, according to Public Works Department minister Dr Muneer, decided to invest about Rs 400 crore in the first phase.

In the first phase the state government will facilitate the construction of roads between Pullikkal in Mallapuram district and Amballur in Thrissur district, totalling a distance of 101 km and then extend it to Vadayambadi in Ernakulam district.
