KIADB gives industry a fillip

An assurance has been given to industrialists planning ventures in Mysore over the next six months. About 180 applications were pending allotment of land with the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) land and they would get lands in the next six months on merit, said KsIADB development officer K C Shivakumar.

He was participating in the one-day industrial awareness programme and MSMED Act 2006 and Karnataka’s new industrial policy here on Monday. The seminar was organised by the Mysore industries Association (MIA) in association with the micro, small and medium enterprises ministry, Government of India and the Mysore District Industries Centre (DIC).

The New Industrial Policy 2009-2014, recently announced by the Karnataka government offers new industries a fillip. stamp duty exemption, entry tax exemption and VAT incentive, said DIC assistant director Giridhar. Micro industries in Mysore taluk, excluding the Mysore City Corporation limits, were eligible for a 15 per cent investment subsidy, he said appealing to entrepreneurs to start new industries in the region and avail government facilities.

ONICRA credit rating general manager Sunil Kumar said though the actual cost was Rs 18,000 per unit the first 20 SSI units in Mysore will be rated at a nominal cost of Rs 5,000 as per the MoU with the MIA. NSIC chief manager K P Kamalakaran said 13 SSI units were registered after he took over in Mysore.

He explained the various schemes available with NSIC including credit rating, marketing support, exemption of EMD and deposits while participating in government tenders, support for raw material purchase, subsidy for participating in international exhibitions and called on industrialists to take advantage of the benefits.

Inaugurating the seminar, Chamundeswari MLA Sathyanarayana lauded the industrialists for their efforts in coming out of black shadow of global melt down. He assured the industrialists that he would focus the issues related to industries in Mysore region in the coming Assembly session.

MIA president P Vishwanath suggested to the industrialists to become members of e-clubs (entrepreneurs clubs), a Government of India scheme with no membership fees. These clubs were affiliated to the Vellur University with a minimum number of 50 members per club. The seminar attracted 86 industrialists.
