Almost the entire city remained water-logged today due to intermittent rain in the last 48 hours throwing road and rail traffic out of gear.The weather office has recorded 174mm rain today, and the city experienced 189mm rainfall yesterday caused by formation of a low pressure area over the North-East Bay of Bengal. The met bureau has predicted heavy rainfall in the entire Gangetic West Bengal in the next 24 hours.Life in the metropolis was seriously affected for the second day today with last night's rain compounding the situation even as the civic body struggled to drain out accumulated water with its 20 pumps.Rain water, which clogged most of the city links, almost disrupted surface transport with trams out of service for the second day today. Train services on both the Eastern and South-Eastern Railways in Sealdah and Howrah divisions continued to be affected due to overtopped tracks forcing either short-termination or cancellation of some of the trains, railway sources said.
