The Korean Trade Centre (KOTRA), South Korean consulate's trade section in Mumbai, is organising 'Korean Week' in Mumbai from November 22 to 25.

Addressing a press conference, H C Yoon, director general of KOTRA, said, "The main aim of the Korean Week is to promote the bilateral trade and investment by the business houses from both the countries in each other's countries. Our aim is to increase the trade between the two countries to $10 billion from the present $6.7 billion by 2010," he added.

As part of the week, seminars on various topics and interactive sessions between the businessmen from both the countries have been organised.

Besides well-known brands like LG, Samsung, Hyundai, 170 other companies from electronic, chemical, ship-building, engineering and other sectors will showcase their products.

About 48 companies from the SME sector are participating and would explore various opportunities in India like starting joint ventures, outsourcing their activities to India and exploring the export opportunities here.

"As our big companies are benefiting from low-cost and highly skilled Indian human resource, we want similar benefits be extended to our SME sector also so as to make it more competitive," he added.

The week would be inaugurated by Korea's commerce minister S K Chung. Kamal Nath, commerce minister, will be the chief guest.
