The Khasi Students Union (KSU) in Meghalaya has announced night road blockades on three consecutive days from October 20, to put pressure on the government to shelve its plans to begin the uranium mining project.
The night road blockade would be enforced from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am for three consecutive nights from October 20, KSU General Secretary Hamlet Dohling said last night.
Dohling said, "The agitation is to protest the move by the state government to bulldoze the people in accepting UCIL's pre-project development activities and the uranium project.
"As long as the government maintains an adamant stand on our demands, we will intensify the agitation," the KSU leader said.
A two-day night road blockade in the state on the issue has just concluded.
