An aide of Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today alleged that Rs 167 crore was transferred to various bank accounts of family members of JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy during 2006, barely four months after he became chief minister and demanded that he disclose details of the transactions.

Political Secretary to the chief minister B J Puttaswamy claimed that Kumaraswamy earned this money from mining firms and from the export of iron ore.

Releasing some documents which he said disproved claims by Kumaraswamy that none of his family member was in mining in the state, Puttaswamy told reporters Kumaraswamy had threatened certain mining firms and got iron ore, which the B S K Trading Corporation, owned by one of his brothers H D Balakrishna Gowda, exported.

The B S K Trading Corporation exported about 150,000 tonnes of iron ore, Puttaswamy said and wanted to know the source of supply of iron ore and whether Kumaraswamy family had any mining lease in the state.

Asserting that he was prepared for a public debate on corruption charges hurled at him, Kumaraswamy yesterday challenged chief minister Yeddyurappa to produce documents to support his allegations.

Puttaswamy alleged that Kumaraswamy had committed acts of nepotism and favouritism, besides the misuse of power when he ruled the state to help his family members gain wealth.

He said Vinod Kumar, an advocate who has filed a private complaint against Kumaraswamy before a Lokayukta court seeking probe into the source of the Rs 167 crore transaction, would soon submit these documents before the court seeking further probe.
