Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, expressing confidence that the economy would grow at above 6 per cent this fiscal, today said the government would vigorously pursue labour reforms and accelerate the pace of disinvestment.
On a strong pro-reform pitch, Vajpayee told his advisory council on trade and industry that the country was reaping the benefits of reforms in sectors like housing and telecommunications. He said the government was also keen to implement the recommendations of the expert committee on foreign direct investment. A big initiative is also on the cards for the modernisation of the railways.
