Land survey for power project completed

A topographic survey of 450 acres in Yellur, Nandikur and Padubidri was conducted by the KIADB, Forest Department and Horticulture Department successfully for the Nagarjuna Power Project under prohibitory orders that were imposed by the Udupi district administration on Wednesday.
 
However MLA Lalaji Mendon, members of the Nandikur Janajagruthi Samiti, Parisarasakta Vokkoota, Guruvayankere and fishermen's organisations who attempted to stop the survey were arrested by police.
 
The prohibitory orders were lifted after completion of the survey work.
 
On Thursday, these organisations held a public meeting protesting against the setting up of the power plant and then staged a rasta roko on the National Highway.
 
Three legislators "" Raghupathi Bhat, Sunil Kumar and Lalaji Mendon and other agitators were arrested and released later.
