Land Woes, Pollution Hit Nhai In Bengal

The Golden Quadrilateral (GQ) project for widening of national highways connecting Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata into 6-lane carriageways has thrown up odd challenges in West Bengal, with poor land acquisition and massive pollution threatening to push the project behind schedule.

The biggest problem in the two sectors in the state was inadequate width of land acquisition done by the state government. This was hampering development of requisite load bearing capacity.
