The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has sanctioned Rs 80.32 crore to the Narmada Valley Development Authority, a Madhya Pradesh government undertaking.
The loan had been sanctioned for the Upper Beda Irrigation Project in Khargone district, Nabard sources said. The project would help irrigate an additional 9,900 hectares.
With this, the total sanction under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) in 2002-03 has gone up to Rs 575.23 crore and aggregate sanctions to Rs 2,161.28 crore for irrigation, rural roads, bridges, small hydel power projects and rural power transmission system improvement projects since 1995-96.

Nabard has already disbursed Rs 1,024.63 crore to the state government. These projects would provide employment in the rural areas and help remove infrastructure bottlenecks, said sources.
Nabard had earlier sanctioned Rs 95 crore for construction of 89 bridges. The state government has approved construction of 42 bridges costing Rs 37.40 crore and survey for 47 other bridges is in progress.
The agency has also sanctioned asphaltation of 1,300 km roads. It would cover 103 roads. Provisions for them was made in the second supplementary budget for 2002-2003.
