The assurance given at the meeting between the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC)-northern range and members of United Action Committee (UAC), a pro-Posco outfit on Monday on the fulfillment of six key demands has been perceived as eye-wash by the project affected villagers of Dhinkia, Nuagaon and Gadkujang panchayats.

The villagers felt the UAC negotiators have returned empty handed from their talks with the RDC as no written resolution was issued after the meeting.

They have cast doubts on the administration's commitment to fulfill the demands for hike in compensation for betel vine workers from 20 to 30 per cent and measurement of betel vines from 'stay to stay’ instead of 'fence to fence' after completion of the land acquisition process. The declaration of packages without any resolution is meaningless for the Posco affected people, he added. Surjeet Das, project director (rehabilitation and resettlement) admitted no resolution has been made yet on the discussions between RDC and UAC.
