Only Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee can decide on the growing demand for rolling back the increase of Rs 40 per cylinder of cooking gas, petroleum minister Ram Naik said today.
Regarding BJP spokesperson VK Malhotra's statement that the Prime Minister had assured him of a discussion on the rollback of the price hike announced in the budget, Naik said: "Prime Minister is open to discussing such issues. He will certainly look into it."
Naik told reporters that prices of LPG and kerosene were increased to meet urgent national necessities like defence, health and education.
