M&A deals in mining sector surge

The global mining sector saw as many as 2,600 merger and acquisition deals, worth $149 billion, in 2011, global consultancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) said. The value of M&A deals in the sector in 2011 represented 33 per cent jump from its previous year figure and nearly double of 2009's value tally, PwC said.
