Mangalore city is set to get a Rs 200-crore grant under the Urban infrastructure Development Scheme for small and medium towns of the Centre. |
The grant, which may be routed through the state government, is likely to be managed by the Karnataka Urban infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation (KUIDFC). |

Widening of roads, laying of drainage pipelines, disaster management, improving water distribution systems are some of the projects that will be taken up under the new scheme. |

The Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) is already half way through the data collecting process pertaining to the city in a wide range of areas to facilitate fund allocation. Works are expected to commence on obtaining the data and its processing within a year's time. |
