M'lore to get Rs 200 cr grant

Mangalore city is set to get a Rs 200-crore grant under the Urban infrastructure Development Scheme for small and medium towns of the Centre.
 
The grant, which may be routed through the state government, is likely to be managed by the Karnataka Urban infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation (KUIDFC).
 
Widening of roads, laying of drainage pipelines, disaster management, improving water distribution systems are some of the projects that will be taken up under the new scheme.
 
The Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) is already half way through the data collecting process pertaining to the city in a wide range of areas to facilitate fund allocation. Works are expected to commence on obtaining the data and its processing within a year's time.
