Amid uproarious scenes, the Madhya Pradesh Assembly on Wednesday passed the Rs 17,021 crore vote-on-account presented by the BJP-ruled Shivraj Singh Chouhan government.
Opposition parties mainly Congress raised objections. “The ruling government has enough time after elections to prepare the Budget,” Choudhri Rakesh Singh, Opposition member from the Congress said, adding "the Chhattisgarh government had already presented its full budget though both the states shared the same dates for the recently held Assembly elections and results. The MP government skipped the Budget as the state exchequer is dry now?”
According to the budget estimate of 2009-2010, revenue receipts during April-September of the current financial year touched Rs 14,852.53 crore, a 20-percent growth over the previous year. During the first quarter of 2008-09, revenue receipts posted a growth of 43.17 per cent. Tax collection grew 21.34 per cent to Rs 11,298.81 crore during the first quarter of 2008-09 from Rs 9311.71 crore in the previous year.
The gross state domestic product is estimated to post a growth of 6.1 pervious over previous year.
During the said period, the primary sector is estimated to post a growth of 6 per cent, secondary sector 5.69 per cent and the tertiary sector 6.33 per cent.
A full budget is expected in July-August.
