Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda today met Congress President Sonia Gandhi and announced unconditional support to the UPA.

Koda, who won as an Independent from the Singhbhum (ST) Lok Sabha constituency of Jharkhand, called on the Gandhi and spent about 15 minutes with her.

Emerging from the meeting, Koda told the media, "I am extending support to the UPA as it is the only dispensation which can ensure overall development of Jharkhand."

Asked whether the issue of Jharkhand chief ministership came up for discussion during his interaction with Gandhi, he said, "I have extended unconditional support and no such issues were raised.      "The priority is formation of a UPA government at the Centre," he added.

Another Independent MP Om Prakash Yadav, who won from Siwan in Bihar, also extended unconditional support to the UPA today.

Yadav alleged that Siwan had become a symbol of growing criminalisation of politics and his priority would be development of the region.

The two newly elected MPs were accompanied by Maharashtra Congress leader Kripa Shankar Singh.
