The Maharashtra government and Hindusthan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the upgradation of Ozar airport, near Nashik.
The upgradation project is estimated to cost at Rs 40 crore. Of which, Maharashtra government will spend Rs 30 crore, while the rest of the Rs 10 crore will be spent by HAL.
As part of this, the Passenger Terminal Complex will be developed at Ozar airport in the next 12 months. HAL has already spent close to Rs 50 crore for upgradation of the airport. HAL has also plans to extend the runway from the present 10,000 feet to 13,000 feet.
Moreover, HAL is also approaching the director general of civil aviation to get Ozar airport the status of alternative airport to the Mumbai international airport.
