Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Tuesday told the Legislative Council that requisite funds would be shortly allocated for upgradation of the government-run Sassoon Hospital in Pune.
Ajit also asked Medical Education Minister Vijaykumar Gavit and his deputy D P Sawant to convene a meeting in this regard and convey him within a month about requirement of additional fund.
"I will allocate 100 per cent fund as per their (Sassoon's) demands," Ajit told the Council.
Legislators from Pune including Mohan Joshi, Deepti Chaudhari and Ulhas Pawar had raised the issue through calling attention.
The state government had in 2010 granted Rs 45 crore for an 11-storied building to come at Sassoon General Hospital. However, Ulhas Pawar lamented that only six floors of the hospital have been constructed.
Admitting the delay, the deputy chief minister said there were some issues involving the concerned contractors remained to be sorted out.
