This is the first phase of the 40 km fully underground Mumbai Metro II corridor, connecting Dahiar-Charkop-Bandra-Mankhurd.
Besides, the cabinet has also cleared the 16.5 km elevated metro corridor, between Andheri east and Dahisar east, costing Rs 6,208 crore. Both these metro corridors are a part of the state government’s ambitious project to develop 118 km metro rail in Greater Mumbai.

As per the cabinet decision, of the Rs 6,410 crore the state government through its undertaking Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) will contribute Rs 1,892 crore while state government will provide loan of Rs 757.50 crore while central loan will be worth Rs 292.50 crore. There will be 17 stations on this route. The government will provide necessary land at a nominal rate.
As far as Mumbai Metro VII between Andheri east and Dahisar east, MMRDA will contribute Rs 2,320 crore while the state government will provide loan of Rs 733.50 crore and the central loan to be worth Rs 302.50 crore.
