Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao has asked the state government to set up a single window CSR cell to give the much needed impetus to state CSR projects. He was speaking at the maiden interactive session organised on Friday night with the representatives of the government and the public and private sector units to align CSR activities with the development priorities of the state.
The Governor also asked the government to give priority for various projects to be developed by using CSR funds. Besides, he suggested that the government can allow the public and private sector units to prepare a detailed project report on CSR spending as this would help examine their viability.
Further, the Governor suggested that public and private sector can be roped in to develop infrastructure to boost tourism through their CSR expenditure.
On his part, the chief minister Devendra Fadnavis informed that the government will soon appoint a special officer in his office to clear projects development through CSR funding. Besides, he informed the gathering that the government will also create a special website on projects that can be considered for CSR funding.
State planning and finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar called upon the public and private sector units to do CSR spending especially in those districts with low human development index. He said public and private sector can provide fund under CSR head in social sector.
