Karnataka seems to be going full steam in trying to increase employability of the youth in the state. Towards this, though a small attempt, employment exchanges are being converted into human resource development centres.

As of now, some two exchanges, Mangalore and Bijapur have upgraded employment exchanges. Now, Kolar too has joined in.

The government, through the Karnataka Vocational Training & Skill Development Corporation Ltd (KVTSDC), a government of Karnataka undertaking, has launched the HRD centre in Kolar along with Manipal Education.

KVTSDC has authorised iRize, the employment arm of Manipal Education, to manage and operate three HRD centres across Karnataka under a PPP model. The HRD centre at Kolar is the first of the three centres, under this partnership.

As there is a shortage of skilled manpower in a number of sectors, Karnataka took up skill development as a major development policy. KVTSDC, with Vishnukanth Chatpalli, Executive Director, at the helm was given the mandate to find implementable solutions that would provide the state with a scalable model to increase employability among the semi-urban and rural youth of Karnataka.

“iRize is an attempt to provide extension services with the government. In this regard PPP has been established at Kolar with regards to establishment of HRD centre in employment exchanges. We look forward to utilising the expertise of providing rural employment and increasing employability,” said Chatpalli. Keeping this in mind, under the aegis of the Labour Ministry, KVTSDC is looking to revamp the existing employment exchanges into HRD Centres in a phased manner, under a PPP mode. The pilot’s first phase started with the first HRD Centre at Mangalore and 2nd Centre at Bijapur In the second phase, 10 locations have been identified across Karnataka, covering Mangalore, Bijapur, Gulbarga, Hubli, Bellary, Mandya, Kolar, Chamarajanagar, Manipal Education through this initiatives is hoping to provide atleast 10,000 jobs with its three centres at Kolar, Gulbarga and Hubli.

iRize will provide the inputs to facilitate employment and manpower support services and will deliver the range of services covering employer registration with opening and job seekers registration, assessment, counseling, training, certification and placement to the youth of Karnataka.
