The Bharatiya Janata Party( BJP) launched a counter attack on the Prime Minister with L K Advani calling Manmohan Singh “the weakest prime minister the country ever had”.
Speaking at a public rally in Mathura, Advani said “It is for the first time that 7 Race Course (PM’s official residence) is not important as the real power centre of the UPA government is 10 Janpath (residence of Sonia Gandhi).”
Advani, who was speaking at an election rally jointly organised by his party and its ally Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), said: “Nowhere in the world, a situation exists when the PM has no powers and someone else is pulling the strings.’’
Advani’s deputies in Delhi lashed back at Singh, accusing him of being a “puppet” PM and “power-less” leader. Venkaiah Naidu, vice-president and former chief of the BJP, said “everyone knows how Manmohan Singh’s writ does not even run in his own government.”
