The Punjab State Cooperative Supply & Marketing Federation (Markfed) has decided to increase its cattlefeed production by 50 per cent. To achieve this, the federation would enhance the capacity of its two cattlefeed plants at Kapurthala and Gidderbaha from the existing 100 tonne per day (tpd) to 150 tpd.
The move comes in the wake of increasing order book and demand for certified quality feed, said an official spokesperson.
The Gidderbaha plant achieved 27,205 tonne production last year as against the target of 25,000 tonne. The plant also earned a profit of Rs 16 crore as against the target of Rs 75 lakh. For 2009-10, the plant has set a target of 42,000 tonne and a profit of Rs 16 crore.
Similarly, the Kapurthala plant achieved 33,804 tonne production against the target of 30,000 tonne while profit stood at Rs 16.2 crore. It has set a target of 46900 tonne and a profit of Rs 16.2 crore for the year 2009-10.
