MasterCard International, in association with U21Global, the Singapore based online university, has launched the U21Global scholarship programme for Women in Travel and Tourism. The programme aims to empower women professionals to stay ahead of industry trends and realise their full potential.

The programme comprises 20 scholarships for the U21Global Executive Diploma of Business Administration that can end up in a University of Nottingham MSc in Tourism and Travel Management. Each successful candidate will get $8,500 scholarship for one year, which is sufficient to cover the course fee, Shrikanth Sinha, director, recruitment, south India, U21Global told Business Standard.

He said MasterCard International and U21Global will each contribute 50 per cent of the total scholarship money which amounts to $170,000 for 20 students. Currently, the scholarship has been announced for this year and based on the success of the programme it may be extended to next year, he added.

The course has been developed by Christel DeHaan Tourism and Travel Research Institute, a part of Nottingham University Business School and U21Global which offers graduate online education to working executives and professionals, a press release said.

U21Global is a joint venture between Universitas 21, an international network of 18 universities and Thomson Learning which specialises in tailored learning solutions. As the course will be offered online, women can take advantage of learning while working.

"Part of U21Global?s mission has always been to bring high quality postgraduate education to underserved regions and populations.
