Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati will inaugurate development projects and schemes worth around Rs 4,000 crore on the occasion of her 55th birthday tomorrow.
These include power projects worth over Rs 1,100 crore. Other projects pertain to housing, Asia’s biggest sewage treatment plant in Lucknow and mobile hospitals.
She will also inaugurate 250 sub-stations set up at a cost of Rs 725 crore for improving the transmission and distribution network in the state. Besides, she will lay the foundation of 22 more transmission sub-stations to be set up at an investment of Rs 373 crore.
UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) Chairman and Managing Director Navneet Sehgal said the government was making efforts to ramp up power generation capacity to becoming energy surplus. He said the work on improving power transmission and distribution network was underway to provide uninterrupted electricity supply in remote areas.
Mayawati will dedicate to the state the redeveloped heritage zones of Hazratganj and Lalbagh in the heart of Lucknow.
Meanwhile, the state capital is gearing up for the big occasion and major crossings and city points have been painted in blue to signify the colour of the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party.

All the major government agencies viz. Lucknow Development Authority, Lucknow Municipal Corporation, Rajkiya Nirman Nigam and Public Works Department have been working overtime to spruce up the city and the venue of celebration.
This year, the venue has been changed from her official residence at Kalidas Marg to Ram Manohar Lohia Law University, where she will inaugurate a colossal auditorium named after dalit pantheon Bhimrao Ambedkar.
