Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has termed Union Budget 2011 as directionless and disappointing.
She noted the budget was not only anti-poor and anti-people, but also pro-capitalists.
She said the budget would not resolve the challenges of poverty, inflation, unemployment and regional imbalances, but widen the chasm between the rich and the poor.
The budgetary proposals would further aggravate inflation upon common man, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president added.
“The country is facing the heat of runaway inflation due to the wrong economic and export-import policies of the Central government. The budget does not provide any succour to the poor, labourers, dalits and women,” she said.
“Foreign capitalists have been provided unbridled opportunity to profiteer with the raising of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) limit in infrastructure and other sectors,” she underscored adding it would adversely affect domestic savings and resilience of economy.

She maintained the Centre should give impetus to savings and mobilisation of funds internally for investment.
Mayawati said the Centre could pat its back over growth rate, however essential food commodities were getting beyond the reach of people due to inflation. “The general budget has been prepared keeping in mind the interests of corporate world and capitalists. It does not propose framing of any particular policy for development of rural areas and expansion of basic infrastructure,” she said.
