Webel Mediatronics launched a pioneering computerised Braille transcription system which offered a comprehensive solution for the visually impaired in areas of reading, writing, teaching, learning and printing and for communication and rehabilitation. |
It covers transcription in 12 Indian languages - Hindi, Assamese, Oriya, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Nepali and Bengali - as also English, the company stated in a release. |

The system comprises hardware and software systems to address the problems of conventional Braille printing system in terms of speed, convenience and cost. |

The system was being installed in over 100 blind schools throughout India covering 22 states and 13 Indian languages. West Bengal has equipped 2 libraries and 27 special schools with the system. |

Nearly 500 teachers have already been trained about computer fundamentals and the software and hardware developed and installed. They in turn have trained another 3,600 people. |

"TextBraille, MathBraille, EasyBraille, BrailleExam, Interface Software, BrailleWriter & Braille Keyboard (BKB), Tact Braille, Automatic Braille Embosser, DirectBraille are among the software and hardware developed as a part of computerised Braille transcription system.
