When it comes to winning an election, age and experience may fail to withstand the onslaught from someone who is young and totally inexperienced.

This is the lesson that can be drawn from the victory of 35-year-old Meenakshi Natarajan who defeated her rival Laxmi Narayan Pandey of the BJP by around 30,000 votes from the Mandsaur constituency.

The BJP was toying with the idea of not giving a ticket for the elections to Pandy on the ground that he was too old but he said that if an 81-year-old Advani can be the Prime Ministerial nominee how can he denied the party ticket.

So, he got the party ticket only to be humbled at the hands of Meenakshi who was contesting the first election in her life.

Prior to this defeat, Pandey had defeated many Congress stalwarts including ministers, Narendra Nahata, Ghandshyam Patidar and Balkavi Bairagi.

But what these stalwarts could not do, Meenkashi has achieved and she is now a Lok Sabha member.
