Roy was expected to invite Gogoi for a joint inspection of the disputed area, besides reiterating Meghalaya's claim based on land records of 1,876, the sources said.
Earlier, both the state governments had written to the Centre, seeking its intervention to stop the other from interfering in Langpih.
The meeting would also take up problems arising out of differences in other areas between the two states.
Last week, the Assam government, ignoring Meghalaya's protests went ahead with the laying of foundation stones for office quarters in the disputed Langpih area bordering Meghalaya's West Khasi Hills and Assam's Kamrup district.
Meghalaya has warned that it might remove the foundation stone and even move the Supreme Court to "free the encroached area" from Assam.
