The government will offer a merit-cum-means based scholarship to students belonging to minority communities in the 11th Plan period.With an annual expense of Rs 761.69 crore, the scheme was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs today.The scheme will be launched during 2007-2008, targeting 20,000 scholarships a year. Students from minority communities pusuing professional technical courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in institutes recognised by the appropriate autorities, will be eligible for the scolarships.
