Mig 29 crashes near Pirotan island

Indian Air Force (IAF) training aircraft MIG 29 crashed at around 13:15 hours near Pirotan Island in Jamnagar on Thursday.
 
Pirotan island happens to be the marine sanctuary supporting aqua-marine habitat and is a tourist destination of Saurashtra-Kutch region.
 
However, no casualty has been reported in this accident, as the crash occurred on the coastline of the island.
 
While speaking to Business Standard, IAF Group captain S Bajaj, from IAF's Jamnagar Airbase, said, "Both the pilots "" wing commander A Naupial and squadron leader N K Mall ejected initially from the aircraft due to the mishap."
 
They were rescued on war footing basis from the sea-waters by the IAF rescue team and are in good shape, he added. The IAF officials on the coastline of the island conducted search and rescue operations for the wreckage aircraft.
 
Commanding Officer, Ajay Sharma of INS Valsura said, "On receiving the information, joint search and rescue operations was undertaken by IAF, Indian Navy and Forest department. Our two boats were sailed immediately to rescue the pilots. After getting the rescue information, we called off one boat and second boat was engaged in search of wreckage of the crashed Mig 29 aircraft."
