Barring a few cases of disturbance where agitating farmers attempted to block vehicles carrying milk and vegetables, there were no reports of any untoward incident during the day.

However, there was a minor rise in the prices of almost all fruits and vegetables in retail markets. The bandh was called demanding full rollback of the hike in electricity tariff.

APMC officials said this was more because of speculation and the bandh call, as adequate amounts of fruits and vegetables were available.

All the three wholesale vegetable and fruit markets of the city which handle commodities from within the state as well as outside, received an uninterrupted supply of fruits and vegetables.

APMC officials said the Sardar Patel Agriculture Market Produce Committee at Jamalpur, the Chimanbhai Patel APMC at Vasna and the Naroda wholesale fruit market received close to their regular quota of trucks from Sunday morning to Monday morning.

As many as 434 vehicles carrying fruits and vegetables entered Ahmedabad from Sunday morning to Monday morning.
