A leading multinational manufacturer of sound and wireless radio equipment has come in the dock after security agencies seized wireless sets, reportedly dropped by Naxalites in the state capital following the ongoing crackdown on the rebels. |
Another leading MNC is already under the scanner of security agencies after 26 wireless sets and batteries carrying the trademark of the company were seized in the state capital along with a huge cache of arms on January 21. |
The police have arrested two woman Naxalites and their aides from the state capital in connection with the incident. |
Even as the security agencies were interrogating the rebels, they were stunned to find yet another lot of wireless sets dumped on the outskirts of the state capital. |
"About 23 walky-talky sets, five chargers and other materials were found dumped in a bag near a drain," police sources said, adding that the trademark on the sets was different than the one on the sets recovered earlier. |
Sources said the wireless sets were of low frequency and generally used for security drill in big corporate houses, malls and other major private establishments. |
The sale of such wireless sets in the open market is illegal. The private firms can purchase them only after getting permission from the home ministry. |
"The condition applies for the manufacturing companies also and hence, officials of both the MNCs will be interrogated," the sources said. |
The communication wing of the state police is examining the sets recovered by the police to establish their technical features. |
