Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP’s star campaigner Narendra Modi today lashed out at the Centre for its “weak” response to the Mumbai terror attacks, saying the 26/11 dossier was nothing but a bunch of CDs containing newspaper cuttings and video footage.

“Fight against terrorism can’t be won by depending on other nations. The country of over a billion doesn’t need to cry before the US asking its help to punish the perpetrators of 26/11,” Modi said while addressing the party’s first rally at Thane, after dates for the coming Lok Sabha polls were announced.

Modi’s speech revolved around the party’s central election plank — good governance, development and security. He stressed that Gujarat was the role model for the country in terms of development, good governance or security. He also highlighted the fact that within 21 days of the Gujarat blasts last year, the state police had brought the perpetrators to book.

He also alleged that the governments of other states had refrained from taking action against terrorists because of vote-bank politics.
