With no cyclonic system developing over the Bay of Bengal and monsoon struck across Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh has to wait for another few days to get the first showers of monsoon. Normally, the monsoon enters Chhattisgarh by June 10. Even as the general date has passed, there is no sign of monsoon while the weather scientists predict that the state has to wait for another few days to get the showers.
“No powerful cyclonic system has developed over the Bay of Bengal that has struck the monsoon across Andhra Pradesh, preventing it to advance towards Chhattisgarh,” meteorologist with the Indira Gandhi Agriculture University Dr A S R A S Sastri said. According to Sastri, it would take a few more days for the monsoon to enter Chhattisgarh. However, because of local weather impacts, rains coupled with thunderstorms and lightening have been recorded in a few places in the state, Sastri said.
