Competition watchdog CCI today said the complaints against public sector units in the steel, coal and petroleum industry have outnumbered those in the PSU counterparts in other sectors in the past 10 months.
"In the past 10 months, we have received many complaints against PSUs. Most of the firms concerned were from important sectors like steel, coal, and petroleum," Competition Commission of India (CCI) Director General (Investigations) A K Chauhan said at a seminar organised by Dun & Bradstreet here.
"And in a number of instances they have been found to be true based on documentary evidences," he said.
Chauhan, however, did not give the exact number of cases received by the watchdog against PSUs.
Currently, CCI is examining at least such 70 cases, at various stages, Chauhan said and added that the watchdog will soon start issuing final orders on a number of allegations.
So far, the Commission has passed order only in the case of prepayment penalty levied by banks on foreclosure of loans.

Citing examples, he said that a particular case a PSU has been found rigging bids and changing specifications to eliminate competition.
Another case against Canadian glassmakers relating to anti-dumping duty imposed on import of float glass is under investigation by the Commission, Chauhan said.
The CCI, which became fully functional in May 2009, is at present empowered to look into cases pertaining to anti-competitive agreements and abuse of dominant position.
However, the provisions that would give CCI the power to vet high-voltage mergers and acquisitions, is yet to be notified.
