Various states signed memorandum of understanding (MoUs) worth over Rs 15,000 crore with investors for tourism and hospitality projects in the first tourism investors’ summit. A total of 86 MoUs were exchanged by states such as Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Uttarakhand, said a CII statement on Sunday.

A three day Incredible India Tourism Investors’ Summit was organised by the Union Tourism ministry along with CII for the first time in the capital. The summit, which concluded on Friday, will become an annual feature henceforth.

Vinod Zutshi, secretary in Tourism ministry said that the ministry will set up an investor facilitation desk to handhold investors and facilitate projects. It will also support in organising investor meets in states on a regular basis. A number of MoUs were exchanged during the session and many more are in the pipeline.

The summit saw participation from 29 states and union territories and about 3,000 delegates attended it. About 700 investible projects were offered, and 16 special state sessions were held. International investors from over 16 countries including the US, Germany, Qatar, Malaysia participated.
