Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Babulal Gaur would be the state guest at the Sharjah Ramadan Festival, a government source said. |
MP will be showcased in a major way at the festival, which will be held from October 14 to November 24. |
The Indian Business and Professional Council in Sharjah will set up an Indian Village at Buhairiah Corniche, the hub of the festivities. An area of 4,000 square metres has already been allotted at a prime location in Buhairah Corniche, where about 50 stalls will be set up. Madhyam, the MP government's publicity wing, is designing the entrance of the venue. |
"The state government will showcase handicrafts, handlooms and village industry products and also hardsell the tourist spots at the festival," according to a statement issued here on Friday. |
A team of artisans, officials and small and medium industrialists will leave for Sharjah on October 11. Another team will leave on October 13. |
The state government will tap the potential in services, education, health and technology sectors. |
Strangely, those associated with investment issues in the state have not been informed about the festival. Even the media has not been briefed officially. |
A section of industry, particularly from the small-scale and medium sectors, is also in the dark. "Only five-six people are likely to visit Sharjah," said an industry source. |
The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce will prepare a media plan for MP and take care of the publicity. |
The Union ministry of commerce and industry will bear the expenditure of the participation, publicity material, and transportation. |
