To ensure better civic facilities and credit access to urban poor, state government has launched a scheme. The scheme envisaged to ensure better employability, more opportunities, social security, legal protection and insurance umbrella at par with labours. “The scheme will be implemented soon, the cabinet has decided on Tuesday,” said Narottam Mishra, a cabinet colleague of Shivraj Singh Chouhan. As many as 96,000 people under this population of unorganised sector live in various cities and towns of the state and are bereft of very basic amenities.

“Most of them live in slums areas and exposed to high insecurity though their contribution to state economy cannot be ignored. We have observed that they continuously face risks and threat to their livelihoods, Mishra said.

Under the scheme the government will initiate talks with banks so that a credit can be made available to people of this category for housing and skill-upgradation facilities. The Central government is yet devising a plan named as ‘Inclusive City’ to ensure facilities to urban poor like hand-cart, rickshaw owners and street vendors. The new scheme will ensure proper space in business localities for street vendors so that they can adopt a routine. “We will also ensure training for them to upgrade their skills,” Mishra added.
