The MPs especially Congress Parliamentarian Madhu Goud Yaskhi raised this issue at the Consultative Committee meeting earlier this week whereby incidents about embarrassing physical frisking were narrated.
The MP from Nizamabad contended that if airports had been privatised, the airport developers should be asked to install modern equipment to avoid such kind of unpleasantness, official sources said.
The Parliamentarians cited the cases of foreign airports where a passenger was asked to pass through a metal detector and followed by hand-held scanners.
Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel assured the members that the issue would be taken up with concerned authorities.

The sources quoted Yaskhi as saying at the meeting that he was not seeking any exception for Parliamentarians but wanted to save all air travellers from the "ordeal". Parliamentarians also asked for the status of their demand on introduction of low-alcohol drinks like wine and beer on domestic flights to which Patel replied that the matter was "under serious consideration".
