The Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) is yet to recover Rs 8,517.32 crore in outstanding payments from agriculturists, high tension consumers, Tata and public water supply department as of October 31, 2002.
Responding to a query made by opposition MLAs, minister for energy Dilipvalse Patil in a written reply told the state legislature that of the outstanding amount, Rs 3001.87 crore was owed by agriculturists in the state, Rs 350.10 crore by high tension users, Rs 449.58 crore by the Tata group and Rs 605.18 crore from public water supply department.
