The comprehensive development plan (CDP) of the Mangalore Urban Development Authority (Muda) would be effective three months from now after incorporating the suggestions from the public, the director of state town planning and approval, V M Hegde, and K Tejomaya, the chairman of Muda, told reporters here.
The aerial survey maps are now available at the Muda office and the public are requested to make their suggestions within 15 days, he said.
A seminar was organised by Muda here on the revision of CDP yesterday. It was held in association with Consulting Civil Engineers, Mangalore Centre, Kanara Builders Association, Architects Association and Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry .

Suggestions were made on rectifying the defects in the CDP 1992, following the recent coastal regulation zone norms, and making necessary changes in the building bylaws. It was suggested that roads needed to be widened and the acquisition of land for the purpose be announced through the media.
It was also stressed that the floor area ratio needed to be relaxed. Other suggestions made include shifting the RTO office from Hampankatta and also the truck terminal.
Tejomaya pointed out that as per the CDP plan each person could develop 50 cents and reserve 50 cents. When it was pointed out that building bylaws were being violated, he said that action would be taken within five days. Krishna Poojary, the commissioner of Muda, was also present.
