Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav took a tactical line by opposing the amendment to the Prevention of Terrorism Act (Pota), which envisaged setting up of review committees at the Centre and the state.Contrary to the perception that Yadav would go along with the government on the issue, the Samajwadi Party chief said he had opposed the Pota and was in favour of scrapping the law. "Why should I support the amendment?" he asked. Yadav was in the city yesterday in his capacity as the leader of the Samajwadi Party's Parliamentary wing. However, Yadav's stance was unlikely to affect the government because all its allies had agreed to vote for the motion.
