Updated at 1125 hrs: Western Railway trains resumed after almost four hours of non-operation. Trains were brought to a halt after seven powerful bomb blasts ripped through as many local trains across the city of Mumbai.
The death toll at around 23.15 hours stood at 146 with over 400 commuters injured. The explosions took place between 6 and 6.30 pm and were scattered between central and northern Mumbai.
Traffic on the roads which had come to a complete standstill began easing a little while ago. Stranded passengers from the north-south Western Railway corridor had moved onto the roads looking for public transport.
The mobile phone network which had been jammed into non-service for the first few hours after the blasts also began limping back to normalcy. Calls began coming in and anxious relatives and friends finally got through to their near and dear.
