Heavy rains that had stopped for some time in the afternoon, after lashing the city for 24 hours, have now resumed.

Update at 1645 hrs:

Heavy rains that had lashed the city till early afternoon today have now abated leading to a drop in water levels in most water-logged areas.

Large parts of Mumbai, however continue to be water-logged following the downpour.

Meanwhile, both Up and Down suburban trains on Western Railway are running 15-20 minutes behind schedule. Central Railway surburban trains services have resumed. Harbour line suburban trains services, however have not resumed yet.

Several incoming flights began diverting from Mumbai following lengthy delays. Heavy rains brought visibility to less than 300 meters at the city's Santacruz (CST) airport. Departures were delayed as well. Overall delays stood between an hour and a hour and a half at 1400 hrs.

The Met has predicted heavy rains for the next 24 hours. Heavy rains meanwhile continued to batter parts of Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra affecting normal life.

Pune, a three-hour drive south of Mumbai, has been receiving heavy rains as well. The Mula and Muthha rivers are flowing above the danger mark.
Rajamundhry, Vishakapatnam and Vijaywada airports in AP are still shut.
