The European Union today strongly condemned the terror attacks in Mumbai in which 80 people, including ATS chief Hemant Karkare, were killed when terrorists struck in coordinated multiple blasts and gunfire in a dozen areas across India's finical hub.
A statement by the current French EU Presidency said the EU was aware of the love of the Indian people to democracy, against which such terror attacks were directed.
"We share the sorrow of the Indian nation and are at its side at this tragic moment," it noted.
The EU also condemned the taking of hostages in a Mumbai hotel, expressed its sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and its solidarity with the Indian authorities and the state of Maharashtra.
