Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi claimed that his government was more concerned about development than the predecessors. He claimed that over last one decade, after he became the Chief Minister, more development work was carried out than that carried out in the preceding fifty years.

"When Gujarat got separated in 1960, the first budget provided only seven crore rupees for water but the amount spent by my government in recent budget (on water) was more than the entire budget of 1960," Modi said here, addressing a huge gathering during Rs Jal Shakti Sammelan'.

He said that his government had given top priority to solving water problems. Modi praised the water distribution system managed by women in Dharoi town in the state, awarded by United Nations, and said he wanted to replicate it elsewhere in the state.
