The Reliance group hopes to achieve Y2K compliance by July 1999. Towards this, it has set up a compliance steering committee under an executive director.
The panel comprises senior-level executives representing major functions like information technology, manufacturing, engineering, business and finance.
A senior manager has been appointed as the chief Y2K compliance coordinator. He is assisted by a group of specialists to coordinate and track the company's compliance efforts, share best practices and monitor budgets.

Each of the group's manufacturing complexes has formed a task force under the leadership of a Y2K coordinator to ensure compliance. The basic scope of the project includes business systems, manufacturing systems, plant processes, automation control and communication systems.
The programme also covers inventory, assessment & impact analysis, remediation & testing, implementation, certification, contingency plan and post compliance surveillance.
It is expected that all mission critical systems will be Y2K compliant by July 1999.
