The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has brought out a credit plan of Rs 9,299.29 crore for Jharkhand for the financial year 2010-11.
K G Karmakar, Managing Director, Nabard, while elaborating Nabard’s projected plans for Jharkhand during the financial year 2010-11, at the state-level seminar held in Ranchi recently said that Jharkhand had immense potential for growth in both farming and non-farming sectors.
In order to execute the projected credit plan during next financial year, concerted action was required by the state government, financial institutions and the state-owned banks to fulfill the targets towards agricultural and rural development in Jharkhand, Karmakar said.
The Nabard MD stressed the need for organising credit camps in the villages every fortnight and establishing “seed villages” to increase agricultural production.
Shiv Basant, Chief Secretary, Jharkhand, asked the bankers to increase the quantum of credit and extend the benefit to the people who were deprived of it.
