The State Focus Paper for Andhra Pradesh released by the Nabard has estimated the credit potential of the state at Rs 18,866 crore for the year 2003-04.
Of this potential, agriculture sector itself could account for Rs 11,995 crore, observed the paper formally released by the state minister for finance, Y Ramakrishnudu.
The paper has put the requirements of the non-farm sectors at Rs 2,949 crore and those of other priority sector advances at Rs 3,318 crore.

The self-help group (SHG)-bank linkage is likely to touch Rs 604 crore, thereby registering a growth of about 70 per cent over the estimate for the current year.
Complementing Nabard for its efforts to bring out a comprehensive paper, finance minister Ramakrishnudu said the state government was laying thrust on development of horticulture, dairy, fisheries and other sectors which would supplement the income sources of farmers and provide cushion in times of adverse seasonal conditions.
In this regard, he highlighted the efforts of the state government in addressing the needs of people by appropriate policy decisions, emphasising on three broad aspects viz., outsourcing and privatisation, stress on enhancement of bank credit and private-public partnership.
Explaining the efforts that had gone into the making of the State Focus Paper, Nabard chief general manager J R Sarangal said the processes associated therein were consolidated out of the district potential linked credit plans earlier prepared by Nabard.
The plans which helped map the potentials available, based on the local resources and infrastructure, gave estimates of credit requirements.
Sarangal said Nabard had extended credit and other assistance of Rs 2,573 crore to the state during 2001-02 and expected to disburse similar during the current financial year.
Veena Ish, the secretary (institutional finance), stated that the projections made by Nabard in the State Focus Paper would supplement the efforts of the government in realising the goals set under the performance budgeting exercise.
